Set Up Your Logitech G923 for Forza Horizon 5

Connect the Logitech G923’s pedals, power supply and USB cable, let it calibrate, then select its wheel profile in Forza Horizon 5. On PC, install Logitech G HUB first; on Xbox or PS5, you need the G923 version made for that console.

1. Connect everything before launching FH5

Start with the game closed and follow this order:

1. Clamp the wheel securely to your desk or mount it to your stand. Position the pedals so they cannot slide away when you brake.
2. Connect the pedal cable to the pedal socket underneath the wheelbase. Connect the supplied power adapter to the wheel and a working outlet.
3. Connect the wheel’s USB cable directly to your PC or console.
4. Keep your hands clear while the wheel turns through its calibration sequence. It should rotate to both sides and return to the centre.
5. Complete the platform-specific steps below before opening FH5.

The calibration sweep is your first useful checkpoint: establish that the wheel powers up correctly before adjusting game settings. Logitech documents the connections and automatic calibration in its G923 setup guide.

For PC setup, Forza recommends a dedicated USB port rather than a hub. Connect the standard G923 pedals through the wheelbase; separate USB pedal devices require their own assignments in a custom profile. Forza’s supported-device documentation explains that distinction.

2. On PC, verify the inputs in G HUB

Install the current Logitech G HUB release, open the G923 device page, and apply any firmware update offered for the wheel. Before launching FH5, turn the wheel and press each pedal individually. Confirm that each corresponding input responds and returns when released.

Use these G HUB starting settings:

• Operating Range: 900°.
• Steering Sensitivity: 50.
• Accelerator, brake and clutch sensitivity: 50.
• Combined Pedals: unchecked.
• Centering Spring in Non Force Feedback Games: unchecked.

Logitech identifies 50 as the linear sensitivity setting. Combined Pedals merges accelerator and brake into one axis for older games; it is inappropriate for this setup. These controls are explained in the G923 manual’s G HUB section.

Now launch FH5 and open Settings → Controls → Wheel. Select the G923 layout corresponding to your wheel. Check steering, acceleration, braking and shifting before changing advanced settings. If the standard layout does not populate correctly, create a custom wheel layout and bind those inputs yourself, completing any mandatory assignments before saving.

Use the paddles for your first session. A separate gear lever is unnecessary to establish working steering, pedals and force feedback.

3. On Xbox or PS5, check the wheel version first

The G923 name covers different console versions. The native compatibility you need is:

Logitech provides separate Xbox/PC and PlayStation/PC setup guides. Forza’s broad “All Platforms” wording for the G923 family should not be read as cross-console compatibility for an individual unit.

With the correct version connected and calibrated, use the wheel’s console button to associate it with your signed-in profile if prompted. Launch FH5, open Settings → Controls → Wheel, and check the assignments.

G HUB is a PC application, so make your console driving adjustments inside FH5. Forza also advises console owners to connect their wheel to a computer when necessary to check manufacturer firmware updates. Forza’s wheel compatibility guidance covers this requirement.

4. Establish a baseline before tuning the feel

First save or photograph your existing settings. In Settings → Difficulty, start with Normal steering, ABS On, and either Automatic shifting or Manual with the paddles. This is a suggested learning configuration; change assists after you can drive a familiar route consistently.

In Settings → Controls → Advanced Controls, the following is a proposed starting configuration, not an official Logitech preset or a measured optimum:

Where your console exposes Steering Rotation, start at 900°. On PC, establish that range in G HUB. Leave other settings at the selected wheel profile’s defaults while checking this baseline.

No independent instrumented measurements validating these particular G923/FH5 values were located. They are starting recommendations intended to make subsequent changes understandable, not evidence of faster laps or maximum realism.

Drive a stock, modestly powered car on the same paved route for each adjustment. Change one value, repeat the same corners, and keep the change only if it resolves the behaviour you identified.

• Steering feels consistently too heavy: reduce Force Feedback Scale first, for example from 1.0 to 0.8.
• Gravel produces excessive rattling: reduce Off-Road Feel Scale before weakening all steering feedback.
• The wheel feels reluctant to turn quickly: try slightly less Wheel Damper Scale and reassess.
• You need too much hand movement: on PC, try 720° operating range while leaving steering sensitivity unchanged. Avoid changing rotation and sensitivity together.

The easily missed distinction is Force Feedback Minimum Force. Playground describes this FH5 control as enhancing lateral tyre force, particularly around the centre; it is not simply a generic motor-deadband adjustment to copy from another simulator. Mechanical Trail adjusts the suspension contribution, while Road Feel and Off-Road Feel separate surface effects. Playground’s force-feedback explanation gives those controls their context.

5. When steering works but something else does not

The pedals behave backwards or fail to respond. Check their connection underneath the wheel, then test them outside FH5 in G HUB if a PC is available. If they work there, return to the game’s assignments and check axis inversion. Logitech specifically includes power, pedal connections, mapping and inversion in its G923 pedal troubleshooting procedure.

Full braking is difficult to reach. Secure the pedals and chair first. If the physical arrangement is stable but your comfortable pedal travel still cannot reach full braking, lower Deceleration Axis Deadzone Outside gradually. This makes maximum braking occur earlier in the pedal travel; it also reduces the travel available for modulation. Raise the inside deadzone only enough to eliminate an actual unwanted resting input.

The wheel is detected, but feedback disappears. Fully close FH5, check wheel power, reconnect with the game closed, and allow calibration before relaunching. On PC, confirm G HUB still detects the wheel. Logitech also documents thermal protection that can disable feedback while controls continue working: unplug the wheel and let it cool if this occurs. A guide tells you to adjust TRUEFORCE audio or select G923 compatibility mode. Check which wheel that guide actually covers. Logitech’s PRO-wheel recommendations explicitly assume 11 Nm, and its FH5 entries for PC and Xbox mark TRUEFORCE audio as unavailable. Those are not G923 hardware presets. Logitech’s PRO-wheel settings documentation makes the distinction; its table does not establish FH5 TRUEFORCE support on PS5. If the G923 fails to calibrate or register inputs outside FH5 after these connection checks, contact Logitech support for hardware diagnosis or warranty service. More game-setting changes cannot establish whether its power supply or internal electronics have failed.

6. Buy a stand only when movement is the problem

A working G923 does not need replacement hardware to complete this setup. There is no product here that deserves a blanket avoid verdict; the useful purchase depends on whether your wheel, pedals or chair physically move.

Consider the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0, NLR-S023, if desk mounting and pedal placement remain unstable. It supports the G923 and includes a chair cradle to restrain chair movement during braking. Its drawback is substantial: Next Level Racing specifies 22 kg before your driving equipment is added, so folding it does not make it lightweight. The manufacturer’s support sheet lists compatibility and dimensions.

Traxion’s review found the chair tray useful but criticised the supplied cable clips for insufficient grip; that is a qualitative observation, not a measured stiffness result. Traxion’s Wheel Stand 2.0 review supports treating it as a mounting improvement, not a cure for wheel detection or missing feedback.
