Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit Bundle or Separate Parts?

The questionWhere do these come from?

Fanatec ClubsportGT Cockpit BundleHello everyone I’m taking the plunge and buying my first proper race sim, and am considering the above bundle, with the fanatec shifter and handbrake.

For a first rig, the ClubSport GT Cockpit bundle makes sense if you want a Fanatec wheel and pedals too; otherwise buy the cockpit alone.

The ClubSport GT Cockpit bundle is the right buy for a first rig only if its wheel package matches your platform and you want Fanatec hardware anyway. If you are unsure of your wheel or pedals, buy the cockpit on its own and choose the rest separately. That keeps the one part you will never outgrow (the frame) and leaves you free to replace the parts you probably will.

This page rests on Fanatec’s product pages and retailer listings. Nobody here has built or used the rig, and none of the sources cited below is an independent lab test, so no measurements are quoted.

What the bundle actually is

Fanatec sells the ClubSport GT Cockpit in more than one bundle. Retailer listings show a Gran Turismo Bundle and a GT3 Endurance Bundle. Per the Simufy listings:

  • The GT3 Endurance bundle lists a complete cockpit (two boxes) with seat, monitor mount and tools, plus a GT3 rim, button module and Xbox Universal Hub. It is listed as compatible with Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and 4, and Xbox Series X|S and One.
  • The Gran Turismo bundle is listed for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC only.

Contents differ by listing. A UK retailer entry for the black cockpit says it includes the seat, while other entries describe a cockpit “without seat”. Read the exact contents before ordering. Some bundle items have also shown as on backorder, and a bundle is only as available as its slowest part.

Bundle versus separate parts

Cockpit bundle Cockpit alone plus separate parts
Platform lock Set by the bundle (the Gran Turismo bundle excludes Xbox) You choose the wheel and pedals
Pedals Whatever the bundle includes Fanatec lists Logitech and Thrustmaster pedals as mountable
Upgrade path Replace the wheel or pedals later, keep the frame Same
Effort One order Several orders, and you check mounting yourself

The deciding fact is on Fanatec’s own cockpit page. It names Logitech Pro Pedals, G25, G27, G29 and G920, and Thrustmaster T-LCM, T3PM, T3PA Pro and T-150 pedals as compatible. It also lists third-party under-mounted shifters, and the Thrustmaster TH8A. The frame is not Fanatec-only, so you are not forced into the bundle to use it.

When to take the bundle

  • You are on PlayStation or PC and want the matching Fanatec wheel and pedals anyway.
  • You would rather not research mounting plates.
  • The bundle contents are exactly what you would have picked.

When to buy the cockpit alone

  • You already own a wheel and pedals, such as a Logitech G29 or a Thrustmaster set. Fanatec’s compatibility list covers them.
  • You are on Xbox and the bundle you are looking at is the Gran Turismo one, which is not listed for Xbox.
  • You expect to change wheelbase later. One caveat from the Simufy listing: the Gran Turismo DD Extreme wheel works only with ClubSport DD and DD+ bases, so bundled rims are not always interchangeable.

What to skip

Skip buying a bundle for the sake of convenience without checking its platform list. The Gran Turismo bundle is the obvious one to mismatch, because it excludes Xbox. That makes it the wrong choice for an Xbox owner, who should look at the GT3 Endurance bundle or the bare cockpit.

Things the frame does not include

A shifter is optional and fits under-mount. Handbrakes need the optional GT Cockpit Shifter Mount. Handbrake V1 and V1.5 are listed as compatible; V2 must mount on the side of a ClubSport Shifter. Fanatec lists the cockpit height as 725 mm, so check your room if you have a low ceiling or a shared desk space. Monitor mounting is part of the cockpit package. Check monitor size and weight limits on Fanatec’s page before relying on it for a large screen.

A practical order for a first-timer

If you are still undecided, work through the choice in this order. First, settle your platform, because that single fact rules bundles in or out. Second, decide whether you already own a wheel and pedals that Fanatec’s list covers; if you do, the bare cockpit is the obvious route. Third, read the contents line of the specific listing, since seat inclusion and rim type differ between entries. Only after those three checks does the convenience of a single order matter. A first rig is also the point where upgrade plans are least certain, which is the strongest argument for keeping the frame separate from the electronics.

What remains unresolved

Fanatec’s product line and bundle names have changed across regions, and stock varies. Check the live listing for contents. Seat inclusion and compatibility questions that the listings leave unclear can only be settled with Fanatec support before you pay.

The bottom line

Neither is wrong; the use case separates them:

  • Top pick

    It depends

Fanatec Officially Licensed Gran Turismo DD Pro PlayStation Sim Racing Steering Wheel, Base and Pedals – Polyphony Digital Wheel, 5 Nm FluxBarrier Direct Drive, 2-Pedal Set for PC, PS5, PS4

    Fanatec

Fanatec lists the GT3 Endurance bundle as PC/PlayStation/Xbox compatible but the Gran Turismo bundle only for PlayStation and PC, so it suits only buyers whose platform matches the specific bundle.

The subject of the question: cockpit frame, seat, monitor mount and tools plus a wheel package, sold as one box set. Drawback: you accept whichever wheel and pedals are in that bundle, and Fanatec’s bundles are built around its own ecosystem.

  • The alternative

    Buy this

Fanatec ClubSport GT Sim Racing Cockpit Seat – Rigid and Durable, Fiber-Reinforced Shell, Padded Foam, Breathable Fabric, Lumbar Support – White

    Fanatec

Fanatec's own listing shows the frame accepts Logitech and Thrustmaster pedals and third-party under-mounted shifters, so it does not lock you into one brand.

The alternative to the bundle: buy the frame and seat alone, then choose your own wheelbase and pedals. Fanatec’s listing names Logitech G25/G27/G29/G920 and Thrustmaster T-LCM/T3PA Pro/T-150 pedals as compatible, which makes it the flexible route.

It depends — Fanatec lists all ClubSport Shifter versions as compatible, but a handbrake needs a separate mount, so budget for that extra part.

A complement, not part of the base decision: a shifter fits the cockpit’s under-mount, and handbrakes need the optional GT Cockpit Shifter Mount. Only worth adding for manual-gearbox or drift driving.
