Acer Nitro V 15 vs Lenovo LOQ: Easy Choice
The question this answersWhere do these come from?
Should I choose the Acer Nitro V 15 with RTX 4050 or the Lenovo LOQ with RTX 3050?
Choose the Acer Nitro V 15 with RTX 4050 for gaming; the RTX 3050 LOQ only wins when its screen or CPU matters more than graphics speed.
Choose the Acer Nitro V 15 with RTX 4050 if gaming is the priority. Even with Acer limiting the GPU to 75W, its newer architecture, substantially higher measured performance and DLSS Frame Generation outweigh the Lenovo LOQ RTX 3050’s higher power limit.
The Lenovo is the conditional choice: select it only if the exact LOQ configuration has a substantially better display or a faster CPU and your main work is not GPU-heavy. “Lenovo LOQ” covers several generations, so the full model number matters almost as much as the brand.
| Specification | Acer Nitro V 15 ANV15-51 | Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8 |
|---|---|---|
| Graphics processor | RTX 4050 Laptop GPU | RTX 3050 Laptop GPU |
| Dedicated memory | 6GB GDDR6 | 6GB GDDR6 |
| Official maximum graphics power | 75W | 95W |
| Nvidia feature tier | DLSS 3 with Frame Generation; AV1 encoding | DLSS 2; no Frame Generation or AV1 encoding |
| Laptop weight | 2.11kg | Starts at 2.4kg |
Those figures describe representative Intel models rather than every regional configuration. Acer documents the ANV15-51-5115 with a 75W RTX 4050, while Lenovo specifies a 95W, 6GB RTX 3050 for the LOQ 15IRH8. Nvidia’s own generation comparison confirms that the RTX 4050 has third-generation ray-tracing cores, fourth-generation Tensor cores, Frame Generation and an eighth-generation encoder with AV1 support; the RTX 30 series lacks Frame Generation and AV1 encoding. If you are buying it for games, choose the Nitro
The GPU-generation difference is larger than the names “3050” and “4050” suggest. Notebookcheck measured a 3DMark Time Spy graphics score of 7,818 and an overall score of 7,944 from the Nitro V 15 ANV15-51-582S, which combined a 75W RTX 4050 with a Core i5-13420H. PCWorld recorded an overall Time Spy score of 5,511 from a LOQ 15ARP9 with the 95W, 6GB RTX 3050 and Ryzen 5 7235HS.
That makes the tested Nitro’s overall result about 44 percent higher. This is not a controlled head-to-head test—the measurements came from different publications and the laptops had different CPUs and memory configurations—so 44 percent should not be treated as a guaranteed frame-rate difference in every game. It does establish the scale of the advantage using two tested retail configurations rather than theoretical specifications. Notebookcheck’s Nitro V 15 measurements, PCWorld’s RTX 3050 LOQ measurements
The RTX 3050 LOQ is still a 1080p gaming machine, but newer demanding games require more compromises. PCWorld measured 76 fps in Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 1080p with its highest preset, but only 23 fps in Metro Exodus at 1080p Extreme. Notebookcheck characterizes the 6GB RTX 3050 as suitable for medium-to-high 1080p settings and generally too slow for practical ray tracing. Notebookcheck’s RTX 3050 6GB benchmark database
The Nitro has more room for demanding settings. Notebookcheck recorded 84 fps in Assassin’s Creed Mirage at 1080p High, 66.6 fps in EA Sports WRC at High and 47 fps in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora at High on the ANV15-51-582S. Ultra settings could still push it below 30 fps in particularly demanding games, so the RTX 4050 is not unlimited—it is simply the stronger of these two choices.
Frame Generation widens the practical difference in supported single-player games. It can create intermediate frames on the RTX 4050 but is unavailable on the RTX 3050. It works best when the game already has a stable base frame rate; it does not repair insufficient VRAM, CPU stutter or a genuinely unplayable native result.

If both listings say 6GB, the GPUs still are not equal
A 6GB RTX 3050 and 6GB RTX 4050 have the same memory capacity, but that is where the equality ends. The RTX 4050 uses Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace architecture and adds newer ray-tracing, Tensor and encoding hardware. It also produces far more performance per watt, which is why Acer’s 75W implementation can beat the LOQ’s nominally higher-powered 95W RTX 3050.
Just want the recommendation?
Skip to the picksSix gigabytes remains a limitation on both laptops. It is adequate for 1080p gaming with sensible texture settings, but recent games can exceed that allocation at ultra textures or 1440p. The RTX 4050 handles the limitation better because it has more rendering performance and Frame Generation, but neither laptop should be selected specifically for native 1440p ultra gaming or large local AI models.
Check the Lenovo listing particularly carefully. Lenovo’s LOQ 15ARP9 documentation includes both a 6GB RTX 3050 rated at 95W and an RTX 3050A with only 4GB at 65W. If the candidate LOQ has the 4GB RTX 3050A, the Nitro becomes an even easier choice. Lenovo’s LOQ 15ARP9 specifications
If screen quality matters more, the exact LOQ can win
The common 144Hz Nitro panel is its clearest weakness. Acer specifies 45 percent NTSC coverage for the ANV15-51-5115. Notebookcheck measured its review panel at 263 nits and 60 percent sRGB, while Tom’s Hardware measured another Nitro configuration at 63.3 percent sRGB and 44.9 percent DCI-P3. Panel suppliers can change between units, but both independent measurements point to limited color coverage. Tom’s Hardware’s Nitro V 15 review
Do not assume every LOQ has a better screen. Lenovo lists the LOQ 15IRH8’s 1080p 144Hz panel at the same 45 percent NTSC coverage. That version does not justify accepting the slower GPU for display quality.
Two LOQ configurations are more interesting:
- The LOQ 15IRH8 could be configured with a 2560×1440, 165Hz, 350-nit panel covering 100 percent sRGB.
- The LOQ 15ARP9 specification lists a 1920×1080, 144Hz, 300-nit panel covering 100 percent sRGB.
Either is a materially better match for photo editing, design work and accurate-looking media than the 45-percent-NTSC Nitro panel. Confirm that the specific machine type includes that panel; a family specification only describes available options. The 1080p, 100-percent-sRGB LOQ 15ARP9 is the more sensible pairing with an RTX 3050 because its native resolution matches the GPU’s capabilities. The 1440p LOQ panel looks sharper for desktop work, but demanding games will often need reduced render resolution or lower settings.
If the processors differ, decide which workload matters
CPU names can change the non-gaming verdict:
- Against a LOQ 15IRH8 with the same Core i5-13420H, the Nitro’s RTX 4050 is the deciding advantage.
- A LOQ with a Core i7-13620H or Core i7-13700H can beat an i5-13420H Nitro in heavily threaded CPU work. That may matter for code compilation and CPU rendering, but it does not erase the GPU gap in most games or CUDA applications.
- A Nitro with a Core i7-13620H against a Core i5 LOQ wins on both major processors.
- The LOQ 15ARP9 with Ryzen 5 7235HS has only four CPU cores. PCWorld measured a Cinebench R20 score of 2,763 and a 1,934-second HandBrake encode, both weak results for sustained CPU work.
The Ryzen 5 7235HS also lacks integrated graphics, forcing that LOQ configuration to use its Nvidia GPU continuously. PCWorld measured only 196 minutes in its local-video battery test. Intel LOQ versions with integrated graphics should not be assumed to have the same behavior.
The Nitro is lighter, and independent battery tests were respectable for this class. Tom’s Hardware measured 5 hours 41 minutes in a mixed browsing, streaming and OpenGL test, while Notebookcheck recorded 9 hours 21 minutes in a Wi-Fi browsing test at 150 nits. Those results use different protocols, but both show that the tested Nitro configurations are usable away from an outlet. Gaming performance on battery will still be reduced substantially.
What to verify on the label before choosing
- Full model identifier: Look for codes such as Acer ANV15-51, Lenovo 15IRH8, 15IAX9 or 15ARP9. The family name alone is insufficient.
- Exact GPU memory: Confirm “RTX 3050 6GB,” not RTX 3050A 4GB. The Nitro RTX 4050 should state 6GB GDDR6.
- Display gamut: Look for 100 percent sRGB. “IPS,” “144Hz” and “anti-glare” do not establish color quality.
- Installed memory: Choose at least 16GB for current games. Both reference families provide two SO-DIMM slots, but factory capacity and single- versus dual-channel installation differ by SKU.
- Processor: Compare the complete CPU number, not merely “Core i5,” “Core i7” or “Ryzen 5.”
- Graphics power: Acer’s ANV15-51 RTX 4050 is commonly rated at 75W, while full LOQ RTX 3050 models can reach 95W. The lower-power LOQ Essential is a different machine and should not be treated as equivalent to the full LOQ chassis.
The final buying rule
Choose the Acer Nitro V 15 RTX 4050 for gaming, Blender GPU rendering, CUDA work, AV1 video encoding or a longer useful life with upcoming games. Its screen and fan noise are genuine compromises—Notebookcheck measured about 49 dB(A) while gaming—but the graphics advantage is too large to surrender when GPU performance is the reason for buying either laptop.
Choose the Lenovo LOQ RTX 3050 only when GPU performance is secondary and the exact configuration gives you something concrete in return: a 100-percent-sRGB display, a substantially faster Core i7 for CPU-heavy work, or another model-specific feature you need. A LOQ with a 45-percent-NTSC screen, similar CPU and RTX 3050 has no comparable advantage. If its GPU is the 4GB RTX 3050A, skip it.
